Later for Reddit is shutting down
TL;DR: Later for Reddit will stop scheduling posts effective January 1, 2027. Data will be available for export via the site until that stops working and by request thereafter.
Why?
Reddit has announced some dates for the termination of its existing public API. They will start removing API access January 12, 2027, and finally sunset API access for all apps in March 2027. To make sure we can control the timing, Later for Reddit will be shutting down in advance of this on January 1.
Key Dates
- Effective immediately: no new subscriptions can be created, though existing subscriptions may still be changed
- Dec 31: Last day posts can be scheduled for
- Jan 1, 2027: Posting stops entirely
- Export availability after Jan 1: TBD, but logins will stop working when Reddit takes our keys away, so try to export sooner than later.
If you currently have posts scheduled in 2027, well, they won't post. Affected paid users will be notified by email (I say paid users because those are the ones I have the emails for).
Billing
Subscriptions will be automatically cancelled on Jan 1, and the unused portions refunded on a pro-rated basis. New subscriptions will be disallowed. If you don't currently have a subscription bit you really need more posts between now and then, please email support@laterforreddit.com and I'll be able to help you out.
Your data
As always, your data is your data. An option currently exists to export your posts, but a more comprehensive data export option is in the works, and will be available by November. I'll be leaving the site up so data can be exported until our API key is revoked, and I'll keep the data around for 90 days before. After that, I'll make sure that all personal data is destroyed.
A note from Adam
I started Later for Reddit (then RedditLater.com) in 2013, and it's been my privilege to have been operating the site continuously since then. I want to thank everyone who has been a part of this long strange journey.
It was a difficult decision to shut the site down, but Reddit's new platform simply does not support this use case. If you're looking for an alternative, Grant over at postpone.app has been doing incredible work for a while now, and has a workaround solution involving phone app push notifications that, while not perfect, is as close as anyone can get to proper post scheduling to Reddit with the new dev platform.
Contact
As always, you can email support@laterforreddit.com with any questions or comments. I'll probably keep the domain around for a while just to stop weirdos from squatting on it.
